Story
I was feeling nostalgic and wanted to go visit my High School. I don’t know why, I just felt the need to go. There are 2 problems with that statement. The first problem is that I spent 3 years at 38th & Broadway and 1 year, my senior year, at 700 Wilshire. The second problem is that my High School doesn’t exist anymore. By this point, it had been closed for a decade already. So I decided to go to 700 Wilshire and then go for another mission around DTLA.
I met some OG working security at the Los Angeles Theatre who was telling me about the building’s history. That foo was dropping knowledge and gave me an inside scoop. Beyonce was going to be there a couple days later filming a commercial. I also spoke to the person at the door at the underground restaurant “Mrs. Fish” and he let me go inside to scope it out. Never seen something like that before. If you've ever been to those tunnels, you know what a beauty it is. Bombed on from beginning to end. No remorse.
It felt like closure for me. When you leave a place you spent a lot of time at, a piece of you stays behind. I had to go back to my High School to reconnect with that piece of me. It’s a part of my history. I remember when I got to that water fountain at Grand Park, I had to sit down for about half an hour to reflect. The sound of the water was therapeutic. I was reflecting on my journey. Then when I was finished with my mission, I sat down at the water fountain (the last pic) with the orange design in the middle and sat there for another 30 minutes. Reflecting was the mood of the day.
